A 25-year-old woman was raped by a policeman in the Mukundwadi police station after she went there to lodge a complaint against her husband and his co-sister in Aurangabad a year ago.

According to details the victim, Sangeeta (25, name changed), is a native of a village in Sillod tehsil of Aurangabad district and was living with her husband in Chikalthana, on the outskirt of city, with her husband for last two years. Her husband was in illicit relations with his brother’s wife and they were torturing Sangeeta both mentally and physically over minor issues.

They also tried to drag her into flesh trading, but Sangeeta firmly refused them to obey.

The refusal infuriated them and they increased torturing her. Fed up with daily torture Sangeeta approached the Mukundwadi police station to lodge a complaint against her husband and her co-sister, where a policeman sexually assaulted her in the police station on the promise of registering FIR.

Thereafter Sangeeta deserted her husband and went back to her parents soon after faced the ignominious experience in the police station. She didn’t lodge any complaint against thereafter hoping that her husband will get rid of her co-sister and accept her (Sangeeta).

Sangeeta appeared before the Maharashtra Commission for Women and narrated her plight before the commission members namely Asha Bhise and Usha Kamble on the premises of district collectorate on Tuesday.
