Violence claim 24 lives in Pakistan's Karachi in 48 hours

ISLAMABAD: At least 24 people were gunned down in separate incidents of firing in Pakistan's largest commercial hub of Karachi over the last two days, local media and police said.

In the latest incident of Target killing on Friday afternoon, a provincial law maker of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), his son and a passer-by were killed when some unknown gunmen opened fire at his car in North Nazimabad area of Karachi, the provincial capital of the country's southern Sindh province.

Police said that the law-maker Sajid Qureshi, was attacked when he was on his way back from mosque after offering Friday prayer.

Unrest prevailed in various areas of the city following Sajid' s killing and angry protesters set four buses on fire and forced people to close markets.

President Asif Ali Zardari condemned the killing of the provincial assembly member and directed responsible authorities to arrest the culprits in a sooner possible way.
