Home minister Muhiuddin Khan Alamgir said police would in future retaliate if they were attacked anywhere.
He warned that none of those attacking police would be spared.

The home minister made the comment while he was visiting Enayeth Bazar intersection where Shibir activists set fire to a police van in the port city soon after the pronouncement of death penalty against Jamaat leader Quader Molla on Tuesday.

Police showed much patience in Sathkania although the Shibir cadres brandished fire arms in broad daylight and fired at police, he said, adding that the patience level of police might cross if such attacks continue.

The law enforcers, he mentioned, was showing utmost restraints while Jamaat and its student organisation Islami Chhatra Shibir were making use of the opportunity.

Those responsible for attacks on police personnel would be brought to book very soon, he added.

Muhiuddin was accompanied by senior officials of police and Rapid Action Battalion in Chittagong.
