Police have insufficient strength to apprehend criminals: IG tells PMA

Thursday, September 12, 2013 - Karachi—A delegation of Pakistan Medical Association (PMA) comprising Prof. S Tipu Sultan, Prof. M. Idrees Adhi, Dr Mirza Ali Azhar and Dr S M Qaisar Sajjad met with Inspector General (IG) of police, Sindh, Shahid Nadeem Baloch to discuss the issues of lawlessness, insecurity, target killing, kidnapping and extortion by the criminals groups present in the city and in entire Province of Sindh.

The IG was assisted by a team of senior police officials including Dr Sanaullah Abbasi, Naveed Khawaja and Sultan Ali Khawaja.

The IG was apprised about the prevailing situation in the Province in general and in Karachi in particular. The IG was told that nobody was safe, there was no security of life and property for the general public.

The extortionist and the target killer were operating with their free will. The bhatta (Extortionist) mafia was active throughout the Province. The poor people had no place to go and register their complaints. Doctor community was among those that had suffered worst.
