The city got its first one-stop centre (OSC) for survivors of rape and other sexual assault on Thursday. The facility, inaugurated by lieutenant governor Najeeb Jung at Sanjay Gandhi Memorial Hospital in Mangolpuri, aims to provide survivors better medical facilities, psychological support, easier ways to file police complaints and even legal assistance under one roof.

"This place will provide all facilities so that the victim does not have to wander from the OPD to emergency or to any other ward. They will be treated with sensitivity, keeping their state of trauma in mind," LG Najeeb Jung said.

The establishment of OSCs was recommended by the Usha Mehra commission report which was constituted after the Nirbhaya gang rape.

According to an official, the women and child development department will also offer the option of secure shelter to victims at the OSC. Sultanpuri's MLA Jai Kishen, under whose assembly the hospital comes, informed the LG about various problems being faced by the hospital.
