The Indian Border Security Force has reiterated that no border killing now takes place along the border by the BSF.
AS Kathat, deputy inspector general of BSF’s South Bengal Frontier, made the comment to reporters at a ceremonial function of the BGB and the BSF held at the no-man’s land along Benapole border on Wednesday noon.

Replying to a question, the BSF DIG claimed that the number of border killings has drastically decreased.

Major General Aziz Ahmed, director general of Border Guard Bangladesh, said the relations between the BGB and the BSF are now improving. ‘Trust among the members of the two border forces are developing day by day,’ he added.
‘The long cherished expectations of the people of the two neighbouring countries will be fulfilled through organising retreat ceremonies at the under-construction gallery on no-man’s land’, he added.

The governments of the two countries agreed to establish four galleries along Bangladesh-India borders. Benapole is the first such gallery to hold retreat ceremonies, the DG told reporters.

The inaugural function is expected to be held on August 25. The rehearsal of the ceremony was held in cordial atmosphere. The programme was attended by BGB officials Brigadier General Rabiul Ibn Kamrul, regional commander, Colonel Hafiz Ahsan Farid, deputy director general, Lieutenant Colonel Matiur Rahman, commanding officer, Jessore, Lieutenant Colonel  ATM Hasan Ahmed, Lieutenant Colonel Mostafizur Rahman, Lieutenant Colonel Jahangir and other officials and BSF officials KS Rathore, DIG, MK Jha, Ashisa Behera and other official
