The National Human Rights Commission chairman, Mizanur Rahman, on Sunday requested Limon Hossain, a victim of RAB shooting, to withdraw the case that his mother had filed against law enforcers after he was shot at near his village home in Jhalakati in 2011.
After attending the office on the first day after being reappointed the NHRC chairman, Mizanur Rahman talked with Limon and his family at his office and made the proposal, sources said.

Limon, a college student, was shot at in the right leg by the Rapid Action Battalion during a raid in the village in Rajapur upazila of Jhalakati on March 23, 2011 and eventually amputated.

The battalion filed two cases against Limon branding him as a criminal and police filed the charge sheets in both the cases in which the police described him as a member of a local gang ‘led by Mizan and Morshed’ and accused him of obstructing the law enforcers in their duties.

Limon’s mother Henoara Begum filed a case against the battalion with the Rajapur police only after a Jhalakati court directed the police to register the case on April 26, 2011.  The NHRC commission officials said that the president on Thursday reappointed Mizanur, also a law professor at Dhaka University, for three more years on completion his three-year tenure as per the National Human Rights Commission Act, 2009.
