HYDERABAD: Justice B Chandra Kumar of the AP High Court on Tuesday directed the CBI to take up investigation into the alleged disproportionate assets of Golla Anjayya, who retired after serving as additional SP.

While working in the vigilance wing of the Greater Hyderabad Muncipal Corporation, one of his subordinates G Durga Rao, an assistant sub inspector, complained to the authorities about the illegal assets allegedly acquired by Anjayya. Although ACB took up the probe, it closed it without recording the statement of the complainant, claimed Durga Rao.

However, following a petition by Rao, the high court heard the case and entrusted the matter to the CBI for an impartial probe.

Since it has come to the fore that Anjayya had even managed to effect changes in the birth register for additional service, the judge directed the CBI to get clarity on the issue. The matter should be entrusted to an officer not below the rank of SP, the judge said in his order.
