Fresh batch of constables join force

Armed with special training in gender sensitivity, knowledge of POCSO Act, human rights, yoga and stress management apart from their traditional IPC and CrPC training, 156 head constables including four women and 288 constables (24 women), were inducted in Delhi Police on Monday. 

The group—comprising an MBA, an MCA, 16 BTechs, BBAs, BCAs and BPharmas, alongwith 88 graduates—hails from all corners of the country. The constables have also been made to go through a compulsory one-month commando training. The young men and women had joined their training in May and June. 

Alok Kumar Verma, special commissioner, administration, took the salute of the marching contingents in presence of several officers. 

This batch of AWO and constables will augment the trained manpower available with Delhi Police. The training was of the highest order and included best practices and modern methodology. 

Of the newly inducted personnel, 132 are from Delhi, 135 from Haryana, 92 from UP, 75 from Rajasthan, four from Bihar, three from Uttarakhand and one each from Punjab and Odisha. 

For those who were being placed as wireless operators, the training focussed on radio and modern communication techniques, power electronics and related applications.
