The Civil Court has ruled to reinstate former police intelligence head Mohamed 'MC' Hameed.
In its verdict yesterday, the court asked police to give him his former post or appoint him to a post of the same rank and to pay him within 30 days salaries and allowances that were cut off after he was let off.
MC had contested that he was dismissed unlawfully and requested to be reinstated.
He was dismissed after police accused him of sharing sensitive intelligence information with "someone he was not supposed to". The reference was made to information that appeared in former defense minister Ameen Faisal and former Housing Minister Mohamed Aslam's report into the "coup" last year which toppled Maldives' first democratically elected president, Mohamed Nasheed.
MC was dismissed from police on 8 August last year.
