Cabinet approves extraordinary powers for Rangers

The Federal Cabinet has approved extraordinary powers for the Sindh Rangers to control the law and order situation in Karachi.

Rangers have been given shoot at sight authority against criminal elements in the city. This includes extortionists, target killers, kidnappers and those disturbing peace or damaging government property in Karachi. Rangers have been given extra ordinary powers to protect the citizens of the city.

The Rangers supported by the police have been conducting targeted operations against criminal elements in Karachi. During the Federal Cabinet meeting, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said the operation had yielded positive results and it was a top priority of the government to maintain law and order in the port city.

Earlier during the Federal Cabinet meeting, the draft of the anti-terrorism amendment bill was approved.
