125 female police to join Congo mission

One hundred twenty five female police personnel of the Bangladesh Police are scheduled to leave on Thursday night to join the UN peacekeeping mission in Congo in a chartered aircraft of the United Nations.
Apart from the stipulated forces working at different peacekeeping missions under the UN, additional superintendent of police Atia Hosna would lead the Formed Police Unit (FPU) team, as commander to establish peace in volatile Congo.
Different high officials of the Bangladesh Police would see the peacekeepers off at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at midnight, according to a release.
It said another female FPU is discharging duties with professionalism in Haiti.
The Bangladesh Police personnel are working in different missions including Congo, South Sudan, Darfur, Ivory Coast, Mali, Haiti, Liberia and Somalia.
